Cherokee lake

Cherokee lake is like pessimistic people because the first time I went to Cherokee lake with my three best friends Amy, Jack Jack, and Jasmine. Amy’s parents had a speed boat, wave runners, tubes, wake boards, knee boards, skis, and floats. So we would always grab at the chance to go whenever her parents weren’t gone out of town. I was looking forward to a day of sun burns, fears of drowning, and stomach cramps, two miles away from the boat.
However Amy has this one friend named Leslie Jackson, whom I, Jasmine, nor jack jack, can stand. She is so ridiculously blunt, rude, and a total slut. Leslie even tried to take Amy’s boyfriend from her once. Can you say S-L-A-M-P (slut + tramp? Well anyway Amy had sprung it to all three of us at the last minute that she had invited Leslie, and was all sitting inside her equinox with these blank expressions on our faces like...what the hell? Nobody said anything about it, because we knew that no matter how hard we tried to, nothing would have convinced Amy Leigh Northern that Leslie Jackson was no earthly good.
Meanwhile we had one of the best car rides to Cherokee I can remember. Singing, at the top of out lung, checking (cracking jokes) about people in our class we couldn’t stand, just being kids basically. I know your wondering where is Leslie Jackson? Well she didn’t feel like riding with us so she drove her own car. Yeah shows how much she wants to be around us. Anyway, when we got there Leslie did not speak to anybody, she was just really anti-social, and she was always on her cell phone. Whenever she did speak it was to complain about how hot it was, or how dumb it was of Jack Jack to jump off the boat. She was just pretty much being an all around ass. After spending seven hours on a lake with her, we were all sunburned, tired, soar, and nauseous. We wanted nothing more than to all go to Marble Slab and just chill. However Leslie just decided that she was just board to death with all of us and she went home without a simple thank you or goodbye. Then Amy’s mother, Ms. Rhonda turned to Amy and said “Never again will that little girl come to the lake with us again.” So everything turned out great.

Earliest Memory

When I think of my earliest memory holidays normally come to my mind. Somehow for some strange reason they are never a blur to me. It seems as if I remember them as clear as day. Most holidays were warm and cozy, filled with love ones, laughter and good times.
Christmas is always the fondest memory that strikes me first. I remember waking up every Christmas morning from the earliest I can remember to now, seeing snow on the rooftops, a buffet of many different foods on the dinning room table. Sausage, eggs, biscuits, pancakes, cinnamon buns, bacon, ham, cheese hash browns, fruit, orange juice, apple juice, grape juice, milk, and tea. As a child I was too excited to even eat, my main objective was to make it to my presents and all of my toys. Now the best thing is that every year I’ve opened the door in the din I get a rush in my stomach, somewhat like the rush you get from when you go through a free-fall on a rollercoaster. After I opened the door I would see dolls, games, clothes, kitchen sets, candy, lip glosses, money and everything that a child would love to see on Christmas morning. The best Christmas that I have ever had was when I was six years old. I remember my mother asked my on thanksgiving day if I wanted the drivable Barbie jeep, car or corvette, and I said I don’t know. So when I opened the door on Christmas morning I saw all three of the cars waiting for me the jump in and drive. Normally when I get done opening gifts on Christmas morning I would go to my aunt’s house, and then we would go to my mother’s friends’ houses. Now remember while were in the process of going to all these places I am still getting gifts, from everybody that I visit. So normally when Christmas day is over I normally have about 150- 200 present and gifts. I just simply loved Christmas so much it was my favorite holiday. However I was taught at a young age that Christmas is not about receiving gifts and food. It is all about the might one, magnificent one, omnipotent one, yes Jesus Christ. I personally make Jesus Christ the head of my life.
Thanksgiving was always a good holiday for all of us but it was the longest holiday of all time. My mother would always start cooking the night before Thanksgiving, and on Thanksgiving we would spend all day cooking food. Normally we would have: Turkey, dressing, corn, broccoli casserole, rolls, sweet potatoes, greens, green beans, potato salad, cranberry sauce, water gate salad, tea, sweet potato pie, caramel pie, chocolate pie, chocolate cakes, and assorted cookies. However when we were finished cooking all of the food, honey child we ate like it was the last supper.
Halloween was always great my favorite thing to dress up as was a black cat. I dressed as a black cat from the ages of 3-8. I would always go to church first for candy and treats and then my mom and my sister would always leave at 7:30 to go trick or treating around our neighborhood we would always go to the big blue house on the corner to get colored candy popcorn balls and we would walk for miles, and when I would come back home we would weigh how much candy me and my sister had. I have never had less than 10 lbs.
Easter was always great waking up in the morning getting our Easter baskets. All week my mother would prepare for Easter. We would always go to JC Penny to get out dresses, shoes, and pantyhose, and my mother is a beautician so she would always fix our hair in extravagant hair do’s. Our dinners would be very similar to the dinners at Thanksgiving. One time when I was 7 and my sister was 13 my mother was late for church on Easter Sunday and she hit a rabbit on the road, and then I said “MOMMA YOU HIT THAT RABBIT!!!!!!!!.” Then she said “Well he should have had on some running shoes.” Now when I think of that I always burst out laughing.
Holidays such as Memorial Day, Fourth of July were always mostly filled with barbeques and laid back afternoons. New Years Day was always a strange day to me because my mother is probably one of the most superstitious human being I have ever come across. She believed that on New Years Day your dinner should consist of Greens, Black eye peas, sweet potatoes, and cornbread. According to some crazy remedy that she heard the greens are suppose to supply money in the near future, the black eye peas are to lead to good health, and the sweet potatoes…..well I just guess that she really liked sweet potatoes.
So whenever I look back on my earliest memories these thoughts normally come to mind. It is really good to know that good thoughts come to my mind. When ever I think of stories such as these it let me realize how great of a sister I have and how righteous my mother is. I can’t wait until all of the holidays come back around the corner again.
